Why was Jesus` crucifixion during Passover - what is the symbolism? (Insight: Exodus - blood on door allowed death to pass).
Passover was the most important Hebrew feast, commemorating their deliverance from Egyptian bondage.Bondage in Egypt pictures our bondage/slavery to sin. The wilderness wanderings picture the carnal Christian life, one set free but not completely obedient. The Promised Land does NOT picture death, but instead, VICTORY...the victorious Christian Life. When we choose to live sinfully, we begin wandering again. Praise God we never have to go back to Egypt...our old unsaved, sinful, lost self!!

The passover is very related to the crucifixion as the Jews use only a pure and spotless lamb. This is Jesus as he hasn't sinned he is pure and spotless. The blood of this lamb is spread on the doorframe of the house just as Jesus' blood was spread on the crucifix. The passover is a representation of the crucifixion even though Jews do not see it that way. This is why Jesus was crucified at passover time.

Jesus is the final sacrifice. Jesus' blood enables all believers to be spared the consequence of sin which is death.
