约翰所著的耶稣传记——图谋杀害耶稣 那些来看马利亚的犹太人，见了耶稣所作的事，就多有信他的。 (11:45) 但其中也有去见法利赛人的，将耶稣所作的事告诉他们。 (11:46) 祭司长和法利赛人聚集公会，说，这人行好些神迹，我们怎么办呢？ (11:47) 若这样由着他，人人都要信他。罗马人也要来夺我们的地土，和我们的百姓。 (11:48) 内中有一个人，名叫该亚法，本年作大祭司，对他们说，你们不知道什么。 (11:49) 独不想一个人替百姓死，免得通国灭亡，就是你们的益处。 (11:50) 他这话不是出于自己，是因他本年作大祭司，所以预言耶稣将要替这一国死。 (11:51) 也不但替这一国死，并要将神四散的子民，都聚集归一。 (11:52) 从那日起，他们就商议要杀耶稣。 (11:53) 所以耶稣不再显然行在犹太人中间，就离开那里往靠近旷野的地方去。到了一座城，名叫以法莲，就在那里和门徒同住。 (11:54) 犹太人的逾越节近了。有许多人从乡下上耶路撒冷去，要在节前洁净自己。 (11:55) 他们就寻找耶稣，站在殿里彼此说，你们的意思如何，他不来过节吗？ (11:56) 那时，祭司长和法利赛人早已吩咐说，若有人知道耶稣在哪里，就要报明，好去拿他。 (11:57) 约翰 11:45-57

The Plot to Kill Jesus
Therefore many of the Jews, who came to Mary and saw what Jesus did, believed in him. But some of them went away to the Pharisees, and told them the things which Jesus had done. The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, "What are we doing? For this man does many signs. If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation." But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all, nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish." Now he didn't say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death. Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim. He stayed there with his disciples. Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand. Many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves. Then they sought for Jesus and spoke one with another, as they stood in the temple, "What do you think--that he isn't coming to the feast at all?" Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had commanded that if anyone knew where he was, he should report it, that they might seize him. John 11:45-57
