If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
This was true that John baptized people with water for repentance of sins as it is written in the prophets. Because Jesus was baptized by John to complete all righteousness. I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. And a voice came from heaven: You are my Son, whom I Love; with you I am well pleased. Baptism shows that a person`s sins are washed away. He or she has joined the family of God and is united with Jesus in dying to sin and rising to new life. Jesus is Lord! Amen!

I think the target is to be the example for us , b/c John himself said that I have not to baptise you also before Jesus came to him John said `I am not worthy to stoop down & loosen his sandals .

If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
I belive he had to be baptized because he was born a man. It explains in Romans 5:12-19 that we as humans are prone to sin and rebel. I belive he was baptized because of the half of him that was human. The half the was prone to sin. It was Jesus showing us that he is human. He is not above the rest of us. He was felsh and blood just as much as you or I.

To set examples for others that they should do as he does.He has not committted sin, but people have to be baptized inorder to be forgiven and be baptized by the holy spirit.

If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
Jesus was baptised with the Holy Spirit because god new that He would need all the help he could get to withstand the temptations that satan put before Him in the wilderness. We too need theb help of the Holy Spirit to withstand the pressures of satan in our every day lives and god wanted us to know that we are not alone .Jesus also depended n the holy Spirit for His strength at the time of great testing. He wanted us to know this in our hearts so He demonstrated this through His only son.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophets,
"Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
'Make ready the way of the Lord!
Make his paths straight!'"
John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins. All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins. John was clothed with camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey. He preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen. I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit."
