How is it that the Christ is descended from David, and yet David still calls Him Lord?
According to Mark's record, no one answered that question. But our Lord is thrusting deeply now and is driving home a very important point to these scribes. How can the Messiah be David's Lord and still be his son? The answer is the mystery of his own person. Jesus is descended from David according to the flesh but he is the Lord of Glory according to the Spirit. This is verified by Jesus is Revelation 22:16 where Jesus states that He is the root ''Creator/Lord'' of David, as well as his offspring '' a descendant of David''. Rev 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.

`In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.` ''John 1:1 - 2''. I believe David walked very closely with God and was aware of the relationship of the Father and the Son.

As God Christ is Lord and so eternal. God made human born at a very specific time born of that point in the descending line. David...one thinks of his past sins and his repentance so the reference to someone, but he stands for all of us, who needs the redeeming arrival of Jesus. Lord Lord...also Thomas come to mind. Resurrected in the flesh as he could touch. Words reechoing and reinfiorcin the remembering of the Body and Blood of Christ which will save us. Generated by the Holy Spirit in that relationship between the Fatehr and the Dson flowing into his humanity and so in us too.

How is it that the Christ is descended from David, and yet David still calls Him Lord?
Hello everyone, Jesus was adescendent of David. But in reallity Jesus was the Lord to people who had the holysprit then and today who had the power of decernment b`se David was able to call him Lord b`se he new that it was the Lord himself and he just came to earth phyisically for the son of man to understand him better. That is why we see almost all the prophets were calling him adeliverer, wonderful counsellor, prince of peace.B`se they knew that it was God himself who was going to manifest in the phyiscal nature to human beings.

How is it that the Christ is descended from David, and yet David still calls Him Lord?
This is the promised to God to Adam and eve that he is going to send a deliverer. And promised was fulfilled when God Himself manifest himself in the form of human being and born from the descendent of David. David knew Him very well that He is the messiah and the deliverer who deliver us from sin. He believe that Christ is God Himself. HE is Great. His plan of Salvation is just PERFECT.

How is it that the Christ is descended from David, and yet David still calls Him Lord?
Jesus Christ decended from David through the power of the Holy spirit. Jesus was the promised son '' Isiah 7 Vs 14'' who was to be born from the virgin and will be called Emmanuel. This was done so that man is able to understand Christ better. However, Jesus is God the son of the trinity and David knew spiritually that Jesus is lord. Jesus was always to the right hand of God and this is why He overcomed His enemies and they became footstool under His feet. Jesus is our lord and savior .AMEN!

How is it that the Christ is descended from David, and yet David still calls Him Lord?
Jesus, by descent, is of the house of David, but David calls him Lord because it must have been revealed to him by God that Jesus was the Messiah.Jesus` divinity does not cease just because He comes down from heaven.

How is it that the Christ is descended from David, and yet David still calls Him Lord?
Christ has the foster Father Joseph whose geneology lines up with the lineage of the family of David. David calls Jesus the Lord because he believes in the coming Messiah prophesied to be coming from God and he believed in who comes from the Lord is Lord. The fact that the Spirit of God revealed to David the coming Lord could not be ruled out here since David was very holy and served the people of God with zeal and zest.

Whose Son Is the Christ?

Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, saying, "What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?"
They said to him, "Of David."
He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
'The Lord said to my Lord,
sit on my right hand,
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?'
"If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?"
No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.
