To fulfill the prophecy that Jesus Christ is the Messiah from the ancestral line of King David...

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Jesus' penalty for sin had to include physical and emotional because I think God wanted to give us a perfect demonstration of His love for us. And also I think it was because God wanted us to see how serious our sins are that Jesus who knew no sin had to suffer for our redemption. And to remind us that when we sin we grieve the Holy Spirit both physically and emotionally. Physically by defiling ourselves and emotionally by taking ourselves out of communion with God.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Man is both spirit and flesh, God created man in his own image and from the old testament, man's sinful nature overtook his conscience and Jesus had to come and redeem man from perishing....Jesus had to suffer both physically and spiritually to save mankind...The spiritual separation from God had to bring Jesus on earth to unite man with God(Jesus) in order to rescue us from the sinful nature of the world.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Physical and emotional pain must be included in Jesus' penalty for "sin", not only spiritual separation, for mankind to fully understand the love of God for us and the cost Jesus  has to pay to save us from eternal damnation.  Since Jesus became a man, all the pain and sufferings a man can bear, He must also experience, for mankind to fully emphatize and sympathize with His sufferings, all because of His love for us and to give us example of obedience to His Father's will.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

Throughout the Old Testament the sinfullness of man is contrasted with the Holiness of God. Our sin separates us from God. Because of God's character and who He is, blood sacrifice was the only way we could be atoned for our sins. The sacrifice was usually a perfect lamb. But the blood sacrifice of animals was never good enough. The Bible tells us that Jesus was the "Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world." Jesus was that perfect Lamb who had to suffer physically to satisfy the requirements for forgiveness of sins. There was no other way.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain because Jesus pays on behalf of mankind, so that mankind does not need to suffer spiritual separation from God.
