"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
No, Jesus didn't have to incite his death it was already planned out what and when and where everything would happen. He was predestined to be crucified at the very moment it happened. Just like our lives are planned out for us so was Jesus life.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
Jesus had to carry all of mankinds sins and burdens both physically and emotionally so that we could be washed clean of all our sins by his blood.

Jesus didn’t need to incite his death. as the son of God he was fully aware of the purpose of his life in this world. Jesus only did what he was predestined and had authority to do. Sometimes as human beings with our values we compromise our Christian values, due to various factors. Our love for our family and friends, our circumstances, our feelings etc. are some of them. But that doesn’t make it right in the sight of God. Jesus did exactly what he was meant to do. Jesus never compromised. He didn’t tell the Samaritan woman, it’s Ok God will forgive you and you can continue in your ways. What he said was you are forgiven, sin no more.Once we receive forgiveness we are expected to ACT as a Christian.  Jesus had no need ‘to incite’ as such. He acted justly, when any act was wrong he immediately took a stand fearlessly. He accused the temple leaders when they were using the temple for wrong purposes. The so called “leaders” were to be accountable in their ways. We too are called upon to act likewise. The temple leaders. As the son of God he could have done or avoided doing anything. But he CHOSE to DO, take ACTION, when he witnessed wrongful acts.

In order for us to believe, Jesus had to reduce Himself to being one of us. He had to face His final moments as a human being and not the Son of God in order to fulfill His work on earth.

The rationale Jesus came to this world was to cleanse us from sin. This indirectly became his obligation.

As things came to this stand, Jesus had to do whatever it takes to save us, that is, to complete his task of saving mankind from sin no matter what.

This however comes as an illusration to us that we should do whatever it takes to serve our God just like Jesus accepted being seperated from his own father in an attempt to save us.

Our GOD father in heaven gave this mission to our Lord Jesus Christ to save us from sin… Because he love us… Christ need to include physical and emotional pain so he will understand and feel how to be a human.  Jesus Christ need to reach out people to spread the words of GOD….. WHY NOT JUST SPIRITUAL SEPERATION FROM GOD? because most of people don’t believe in unseen…. Even he was here on earth and there’s a lot of miracle he prove there’s still people doesn’t believe in GOD… It’s a will of GOD so people would remember Jesus as son of GOD….. Jesus Christ is the only way to save us from sin…

With the physical it shows that no matter what man did to him, he still loved them.

Our Lord Jesus Christ need to suffer physical and emotional as a penalty for our sins, that shows He loves us so that the people will know that he was suffered more as we compared to our sufferings when we experience trials , difficulties an life, people easily give up and down. And so we will know also that God is powerful and and He will not despised us in times of trouble.God Bless!

Our Lord Jesus Christ need to suffer physical and emotional pain and not just spiritual separation from God because God loves us so much that He will endure everything for us to be saved from our sins.

Jesus die a death that was extremely painful.  Christ suffered in order to make the sacrifice for our sins.

Peter 3:18 - For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in flesh but made alive by the Spirit.
