 | Praying For God |
What a strange title, 'praying for God'; as if! But do you know what? God desires us to pray for Him. I discovered this penchant of God's many years ago, but only recently did God bring it to the forefront of my life again. I was considering the many things I am confronted with in life. We all have things we are facing, and for those of us with long drawn out things that simply will not go away, or seem to not be answered by God, I want to show you something! How we approach prayer is a primary factor in the success of our petitions. In order to do that, let me tell you first of all, prayer is not a system of Scriptures or words we memorized by rote. Prayer is anything but! Prayer also, is not a request list that you read off to God. Prayer is talking with God. Not talking to Him only, but with Him. You talk, He talks. He talks, you talk. This particular Scripture reminds me of God in regard to praying: "Who has believed our report, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?" When I go in to talk with God, I ask Him, "Lord, what is on Your mind today?" If we want to fit in with His plan, it is important for us to ask Him what that plan is. And somewhere in the midst of Him talking, if you are listening, you will hear God's petitions; His prayer requests. He will reveal things to you that you never knew anything about. The first thing we have to realize is that when we are finding out what the heart of God is, we have to empty ourselves of our agenda's. That was a hard thing for me to do. I had all of these requests that could not wait! Or so I thought. I wanted to cut to the chase, so to speak. I needed to get direction for my life, my children's lives, for my ministry, my books, website, finances, where to move, do I stay where I am, where are the sales for clothes, food, household items; and so on. I needed answers now and tomorrow, well, "You said to not fret about tomorrow, so, can You answer me today?" type of thing. So, where do we fit in God's prayers? That is the most awesome thing! But you are going to have to wait for the next installment. (Smiling). I know, here we go again...more waiting. But I promise you, it is well worth it. Assigment: Chew on this a little. Get into the presence of God and ask Him to make this yours, to make it personal between you and Him._small.jpg&u=64006)
