The result of Adam and Eve’s disobedience to God resulted in humanities birth in sin.  God hates sin, and therefore, it separates us from God.  It separates us physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  Jesus’ penalty for sin was physical separation from God, but that was not enough to satisfy God.  Born in sin has a direct effect on man physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  We are born in sin, and born to commit sin.  Redemption can not occur for one (physical) with out the others (emotional and spiritual).  God wants the whole being to be cleansed, to come under the blood of Jesus.  Once this is done, the sanctification process can begin.   Thank you, Jesus.

Why did JesusĀ“ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
For it not to be a cliche, but a fact when we say, or you hear, jesus has felt our pain in the flesh. He knows the pain of each and every one of us.In today's words of popular cliches "been there, done that.He can actually say that and we should beleive it

As we know Jesus was born from the virjin Mary and He lived in this world as a human being,He had to suffer like a human being physically as well as emotionally. He is the only begotten son of God He had to separate spiritually from His Father for a few moment in the Cross.

Jesus and prophecy
Perhaps Jesus' life and death is better viewed as the fulfillment of the promises God made to Israel (and all nations as promised to Abraham). It was necessary for Him to die to reconcile God to mankind (2 Cor 5:18). In Jesus God has accepted all humankind and now it is up to every person to be reconciled to God. Did God plan this way of reconciliation? Yes, Jesus was crucified by the foreordained planning of God (Acts 2:23). The wonder of it all is that God would do this to gain the rescue of His creation.  --DrD

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
Not at all, Jesus was to fulfill the biblical prophence in a humble way. He had all the power in him to conquer the devil. He had God's wisdom which made him faithful and calm to fulfill the spiritual visional of his father to rescue the human race from the first sin. This is the reason why he never took any defensive actions. The cleasing of the temple was according to the jewish law, because it was not being used for the intended purposes, hence the argument with the cief priests.

Jesus knew how His physical life was going to end.  And although He did not try to stop His fate on the cross, Jesus did not try to incite His death.  In this lesson there are six references pointing to actions by Jesus that may suggest He was trying to manipulate situations, to insure His death.

Jesus was actually being obedient to God's will. Therefore, He had no reason to incite His death.  As long as He remained obedient to God, then death by execution on the cross was sure to take place, and all things before His death would lead to the cruxification.

Jesus was fulfilling the scriptures so that the temple of God will not be associated with the world system but the church is meant to be dependent on GOD as its source only.
