The childlike qualities necessary are trust, faith, humility and forgiveness. (Luke 10:21) At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.  Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

(Matt 19:14) Jesus said "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these". When he had placed His hands on them, he went on from there.

Sheep wonder and stray aimlessly unless they have a shepard to lead them. (Matt 9:36) When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a sheperd. 

Those that do not know Jesus are like lost sheep because they do not seek spiritual enlightenment. They only know the ways of the world, but do not know the ways of God.  They are swallowed up in carnal desires that only lead to destruction.  They are unaware of Jesus's love and compassion and how he came to give his life as a random for all. They are loved by God, but have no realization of who He is.

Confronting him first means that you have compassion on him.  When you speak the truth in love and appeal to his spiritual nature as a brother/sister, he usually is able to talk, confess and repent.

If he shows no remorse and does not listen or repent, ask 2 or 3 people to come with you. They serve  as witnesses to every word spoken.

Its important that we forgive because in forgiveness we realize that God continuously forgives us of our trespasses.  When we forgive, we should be reminded of who we are in Christ.  The act of forgiveness is showing mercy and love. 

As Christians, we must soften our hearts and be more like Jesus in our character.
