Why did Jesus seem to discourage the Scribe and the disciple from following Him? Didn`t He want these two to join Him?

Jesus did not mean to discourage the Scribe and the disciple from following him but to let them know that the way was not easy, that if they want to be his follower they would have to drop richness to search the main goal. Of course he wanted them to join him, but in truth, knowing what it awaits a follower, and going through conscientiously.

In what ways does the physical healings performed by Jesus in the path parallel the spiritual healings he performs on people today?

Phisical and spiritual healings are parallel or compared between each other, they are a gift from God, blessings from God, that come from faith and from the comppasion love and mighty power of God, it is not something we get for our good deed, or merits. Its God love and power working for his beloved children. Both are needs of the people which God is always willing to satisfy as part of his plan of salvation, he cares for us in integrity, mind, body, spirit-totally surrender to him- totally saved.

What was there about the centurian`s faith that so impressed Jesus?

Centurian's faith was so strong, so deep and so firmly, that he did not need to see to believe, he was just sure about Jesus' miracle before Jesus would do it. The centurian beleived that Jesus could grant him what he was asking because he beleive in his authority, in Jesus'power. Centurian's faith was based on the person of Jesus.
