Jesus discouraged the scribe and the disciple from following him because to follow Jesus meant to give up everything. They were not willing to wholeheartedly leave their near and dear ones. Following Jesus meant a lot of hardships which Jesus knew they would not carry on.

Why did Jesus seem to discourage the Scribe and the disciple from following Him? Didn`t He want these two to join Him? They made buring their dead top priority before following Him.Woever wanted to be a true disciple of Jesus would usually give up every thing they had a nd follow Him. He said the road would be tough.
