Why was Peter`s rebuke a stumbling block to Jesus? Peter's plead to keep JESUS from enduring all those things are very humanistic, he didn't want JESUS (who he loved) to suffer in the manner he described. Yet, JESUS saw this as a stumbling block because he knew he had to endure this fate to see his FATHER'S will be done and the scriptures fulfilled. And although, Peter could never realize the grand picture of this moment, his desire was genuine even though he couldn't comprehend why JESUS rebuked him by saying, "Get behind me, Satan, etc. etc."
