Why did Jesus speak to the people in parables, rather than just stating things directly?

Jesus knew the true believers in God would understand and get the meaning of the parables. They would not go out and sow false seeds or messages that were not true.

What does the darnel seed represent and how is this darnel weed sown?

The darnel seeds are the ones that persecuted Jesus and wanted Him destroyed because they feared His power over the people. False gods and satan were responsible for sowing the seeds of evil.

What type of soil best represents your life? Why?

I believe my type of soil is improving all the time. I'm not to the point that I can say my soil is the most fertile but I do believe it is not solid rock or that the birds have not carried away the seed of God's message. The seeds have been planted and with good gardening skills, the thorns are being pruned and I do believe eventually the soil will become very fertile and the seeds of God's word wil grow and spread a wonderful fruit bearing vine.
