The heart of the tax collector is true humility. He didn't even raise his head or lift his eyes towards heaven, he hung his head down in reverence, in respect and I guess he beat his chest to emphasis that what he was about to say was coming straight from his heart. He acknowledged that he was a sinner who needed to receive God's mercy, forgiveness and love. He had no big words or any long eloquent speech, he spoke from his heart and went home justified because he was satisfied that his prayer was heard, accepted and he would be taken care of. The Pharisee lack the true meaning of forgiveness, of asking for forgiveness and the love of neighbour. They used all there time to bad-mouth and watch there fellow brothers and sister and exalt themselves that they are unaware that being humble, being repentant, loving each other, sharing, helping and caring is what being a true follower of Jesus is all about. It is not about one's speech, clothes, possessions, position etc. but love, peace, joy etc. in the Holy Spirit. By: Margie Whyte-Dennis Category: The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector |

 | What characteristics of a little child allow the child to better receive the Kingdom of God? |
Innocence. A little baby, child, children, has not yet copied the world's trials, they are sweet, cuddly and innocent, they have not yet gotten acclamatized to the degredation of the outside world with all its good and evil woes. They are better able to receive the Kingdom of God because of their purity, their acceptance of love and adoration given to them at this tender age, they have not yet experience what it feels like to be hated and to hate, victimization, marginalization, they have not reached the stage or age to learn what the world outside of their warm, loving cacoon is like. They have gravitated to a love that is amazing, that never fails, that is always there, that they can depend on. A love that we all need to obtain by behaving like little children.
