Jesus came to earth as a human being so He knew what physical and emotional pain would be like for His people. I think these feelings were included so we as human being can have an idea of what Jesus went through and how He felt. He suffered emotionally because He was moved to tears at the death of Lazarus, He suffered emotionally when the merchants were using the Temple as a gambling site rather than a place of worship. That made Him angry and He turned over the tables of the money changers. Jesus endured pain physically when He carried that cross, the cross where he was nailed to and bore pains for our sins, the cross that was hanged between a murderer and a thief, the cross where before He died, He saved the soul of one of the men being punished beside Him, the same cross where He said "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do". Jesus died for us physically, emotionally and spiritually. His spiritual death is to show us how we should live, how He saved us from sin through His death, by His stripes we are healed. If we accept Him, feel the Holy Spirit moving within us, we can claim the victory of knowing He lives within our hearts. Jesus paid the price on behalf of mankind so that mankind does not need to suffer spiritual separation from God. Jesus knew because of our sins we would suffer physical and emotional pains so He did that to show us we were not alone. By: Diana Yarde Category: Timeline & Words - Final Hours of Execution |

 | "Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?) |
The dictionary meaning of incite is to provoke a situation or set in motion - therefore I think that is too much of a strong word to use in describing Jesus actions or the events that took place before His death. Jesus knew before time what was going to happen because He was born to be the Messiah. Micah Chp5:2,5 reads, But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village in Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past. (5) And He will be the source of our peace. So hundreds of years before Jesus was born, Micah predicted His birth and His birthplace, he even knew He would be the Messiah, he knew all about Jesus and His life to come. I think Jesus wanted more to emphasize His love for His people and the Temple which was a place of worship. During the passover week, the Temple, a place where is sacred was use as a gambling house, sacrificing animals and money changing, the merchants were abusing the system, making money out of the foreigners who traveled from far, that made Jesus angry and he overturned the tables and ran them out of the Temple. Jesus predicted His death because He knew He had to die for the sins of the world and conquer Satan. If he did not die on the cross, this would be a corrupt world owned by Satan and all of us would be his followers. But thanks be to God, Jesus came from heaven to earth to show us the way to eternal life, the way to His Father who sent Him, then from the earth to the cross where He paid our debt of sin, and from the cross where He suffered and died to the grave where He was buried until that third and glorious day when he rose again. All this He predicted to His disciples. Jesus wants us as Christians to focus our attention on Him, He is the way the truth and the life. He is saying we are to be obedient and be prepared like He was, then when death comes we would more readily accept it just as He did.   By: Diana Yarde Category: Timeline - Final 1 Week |

 | "Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?) |
I don't think Jesus was trying to incite His death, He was only doing what He was ordained to do. Jesus is all knowing, remember He said John 8: 58 “I tell you the truth”, Jesus said, “before Adam was born, I AM.” so He knows all things. He had a task to accomplish which included teaching, healing, raising the dead and to perform all the miraculous things that He did and of course clearing the Temple before His final transistion. Jesus knew before hand what was happening on earth before He even took on human form and He knew exactly what He had to accomplish before His time of crucifiction. He had to select persons who will follow His instructions to continue shepherding His flock when He returned to His Heavenly home. Persons who would follow His teachings, who were willing to endure hardships for the Word. His task was to, as we say, speak the truth and in doing so He would inevitable encounter persons who would want to kill Him. The things He said and did especially for the persons who were marginalized, poor, in need which made a whole multitude of persons follow Him would irk anyone who is jealous of His popularity, angry at His  accusations and have ambitious desires, who sees their hold over people, society and even properties diminishing. He showed and taught love, compassion, kindness, faith, hope belief in the one True God. He did not come to change the law but to fulfill them and of course to offer us who believe in Him a place in the heavenly home which He has gone to prepare for us who accept Him. Therefore He knew without a doubt what His cruel ordeal would be like, He saw it being inflicted on persons and this was the only way for Him to save, forgive and take us out of bondage.
