Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? I think that each person is a whole person - of spirit, body and mind. Therefore for Jesus to show that he had done a COMPLETE work of salvation for us, he had to experience the pain and suffering in all the aspects of being a person. He suffered in every aspect of life, that also affects us and and where there are struggles, so when we receive His gift of salvation, it is complete - spiritual, bodily, and emotionally- we are totally free.

How does being forgiven increase ones love for God? Note: According to Jesus, God`s forgiveness is motivated by love. When we do wrong and recognize it, it makes us feel awful, guilty and shameful. Moreover, others, including family, friends and those in society in general show scorn, turn up their noses ''spiritually sometimes'' and make us feel even worse. When someone releases you of that wrong and especially when it is made public, it is like you are a new person. It therefore leaves the person forgiven feeling so grateful and as if they would do anything for you. They love you. In your spirti you are released and that space is used to love and to give back in a grateful way. It is a wonderful feeling.
