What makes it so difficult to love our enemies? Bonus Question: What happens when we love our enemies?

Because enemies are hard nut to crack. Enemies having malafide intention to harm us, hurt us, tease us do not deserve any sympathy. However it is the test of time and our perseverence and tolerance that we dont take the shelter of 'tit for tat' and start loving them with the hope that they will change their behaviour and attitude towards their so called enemies. Similarly, when we start loving our enemies, we recieve an internal peace, satisfaction with spiritual support which enhances our patience level and makes us happy always with no hard feeling for anyone., Secondly, there is every possibility and hope that our enemies may also change.
