Why did God choose such a unique way (through a virgin birth) to bring Jesus into the world? because god want to reveal his presence and power to all in a different way by sending his son in form of holy spirit in womb of mary and then on to the earth as his glorified son.

Given the scandals associated with the women Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and the wife of Uriah (Bathsheba), why do you think they were mentioned in the geneology of Jesus? They were all sinners and Jesus came to carry all their sins to the cross. When God forgives our sins, these are removed for ever. Secondly, women have been considered equal and that was why, they found place in the geneology of Jesus.
