Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment? In the Old Testament, anyone who commits sin was punished and people commiting adultery were stoned. The approach of the people was `an eye a for an eye and a tooth for a tooth`, People hardly learn to love one another. But when Jesus came into this world, He introduced a new principle i.e. to love one another. Before the coming of Jesus, people were taught to love their neighbour and hate their enemies but Jesus modified the rule into forgiving and loving their own enemies, and praying for them` which was totally a new commandment.No one knew this commandment or followed this commandment, so Jesu even set us an example on the cross by forgiving and praying for those who presecuted Him.

The words of Jesus gave me hope and faith.
