The Kingdom of all at the presence of the Father and Jerusalem on earth. Investing of ourselves. Trust is the stretching of the heart in prayerful 'knowing'that Someone is listening. Testing our commitment and intention too. That OT reading of the archer stretching the arm and throwing so many arrows till God allowde the target to be reached. Jesus could not do a mighty work in his own town among relatives because of disbelief. What is disbelief? Some seem to be jelous and blind intentionally so unwilling to suspend the willingness to accept what they should have started to see like Simeon: the son of Mary? being Mary who? that young lady who conceived of the Holy Spirit...as promised in the Scriptures.Simeon saw and he was blind. Physically but not spiritually so like the blind man who called out for Jesus healing wehn he sensed he was approaching. They are too caught in the ordinary to see the extraordinary outside their door and thta is understandable. Instead of rejoicing to be blessed by such a blessing, feeling honored they feel maybe envious. Why to that humble maiden and not their mothers? why him and not them? arent there any higher social classes that were fit for a king to be born in too? all those evil defiling thoughts made those rich cots too filthy for the King to be born in. A 'dirty' humble manger is a far cleaner and fitter shrine for the Holy Babe.

How did Jesus "equip" his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions? They are to trust God at all times and not to worry about their personal needs. Love of opne souls would provide. Do the birds in the sky...Whenever i read this passage i cannot help to smile thinking that then the disciples walked the earth on foot maybe on donkey and needed to carry the bare minimum. Most precious being the power to heal and the power of speech to call to repentance, stemming from the Holy Spirit. Then equipment has evolved from the set of all that is needed for the Annointed of the Sick (when did that start...were prayesr the sign of the cross and the telling of a parable enough with the confession of cousre too?) to ...but your staff, portable and cell phones. "Paul emails the Churches" ( tymotheo@churchant.com) Technology being extra equipment in this multemedia world all the more a miracle how the Holy Spirit kep the Word unified then...no multimailing systems but letters that could have gone lost...
