What is there about the Kingdom of Heaven that makes it worth forsaking everything else to obtain it?
There's eternity with Him, God, the Holy Trinity.  Because life on earth is only a moment in comparison to eternity in Heaven.  Life is a gift, like a seed, planted by God and watered by men; what do you do with it is your gift back to God, which shall obtain you justice in front of Him.  What there's about the Kingdom of Heaven is that He made it ours as well, if only now we make the decision of faith in abandonment, a decision from the heart that will outlast anything.

Why does the Father hide things from the wise and intelligent and reveal them to infants?
The Father is the Father of every human being; it's our choice of attitude that can change that.  Naturally there's nothing wrong with being intelligent, actually we need our minds to guide us and truly absorb His "things".  We cannot just pretend to be literally infants, and take things just like it is given to us.  The "things" of our Father must eventually make us grow, and as long as we grow wise in Him, that is the way to remain like an infant in His mighty Fatherly hands.

How come the unbelief of His countrymen prevented Jesus from performing many mighty works among them?
I was gonna say they refused to believe and i may have replied so in the past. Now i noticed the word offended. And that is in contrast with honor. A prophet was never honored in his own country. But he was no prophet: he was the prophetised one. I guess it was their jelousy that explained their total unwillingness to even see or  hear what he was doing or saying. There is no worse deaf than the one who does not want to hear it says somewhere. Jesus did not even thought it was worth trying. He dusted off his feet and walked on. Might have even been mocked asked what was the trick...his humanity the fact that they saw him growing from tiny baby into man made it very difficult to believe in his divine nature. They were not even willing to suspend their dsibelief though. Thomas needed to touch his rib but was willingto do so. Also probably worried that if he was the king of the Jews, intended wrongly as a political leder, that would have attracted the hatred and persecution of the chiefs? Herod had so many innocent killed. They did not have faith enough in the Lord to stand by his Son. And maybe many still did not believe that Mary had had a virgin birth so though Jospeh was able to protect her from being stoned, social stoning of her and her alleged 'bastard' son was not something he could protect them from. So being his birth unexplained and implying for them the fact that his mother had been unfaithful to the laws of the Fathers, no way to tehir eyes he could be considered a prophet. Let alone the Son of God. Still there were people like Elisabeth and Zachariah and Simeon who believed...and Simeon the blind man had felt with the wisdom of his heart that that baby was the promised one. Blessed are those who see and all the more those who do not see and yet believe.
