1014 entries for this category: Sin Faith and Duty Doing our duty is the minimum - still we have to be humble and be at the mercy of God. He allows for the fact that we will be faced by temptation but we are called not only to resist it but all the more not to be a stumbling block for others. Do not lead others into temptation and help them out of the pit. He makes us aware of the need to ask forgiveness for those who sin against us who harm us by being open to giving forgiveness however many times they ask it sincerely for us. Suppose that the underlining question is: do you find it easier to forgive or to forgiven? the disciples ask for more faith more trust. Jesus insistence on forgiving others: forgiving`s harder. Not holding the wounds and sores but letting them heal by not adding hatred hostility for the one who hurt us. Its` also the power of hearing confession in the name of Jesus of the Father. You trespassed my commands - you hurt my love but that love so deep that if you come repentant you shall be forgiven. As for the disciples. As for me - I personally find it more difficult sometimes to ask for forgiveness - pride difficulty in admitting that I did wrong. Lack of faithsometimes - fear of not being forgiven?

What about this story disturbs or comforts you? Disturbing is the selfishness of the rich man who in Hades can only think of himself again and dares asking Abraham to have his anguish cooled by the very same human being he left to die at his gate. The comforting related reflection is that it is up to us: we CAN HOPE to leave the Gate open if we leave ours open to the ones in need. Also disturbingly striking is when, at the request of the rich man to send a dead one to call his family to repentance, how Abraham reminds the rich man of the OT Fathers and not of Jesus rising from the dead. A powerfully comforting gap. What do we do here?: do we forget like him or do we remember Jesus? Finally an extremely comforting element is the concreteness of the image of Lazarus in the bosom of Abraham.
