Why does Jesus describe to his disciples how disobedient, ignorant and lazy servants are punished by their master, and how obedient, alert and active servants are given greater authority?

It`s an everyday parallel that being familiar to many will be very clear. Not talking in parables to everyone. Of course the entrusted Treasure is not the earthly one. And the death we need to be afraid of is not the one of the body and the earthly ones are not the most precious treasures we need to watch over but our Souls. The disciples will have to guard their flocks and make sure the devil doesn`t snatch them anyway. Lamps burning and wide open eyes on any potential weed that by spreading might be used by the devil to snatch them away. The more caring and attentive the larger the entrusted flock. Asking for faithfulness and alertness at all times. We don`t know when the master`s coming back. Always aware of his presence. If forgotten that brings carelesseness and distractions. Like the disciples falling asleep when waiting with Jesus: KNOW that the Lord will come again and know the paths along which you were asked to lead that flock entrusted to you. Helping them up and along with the necessary strenght - no laziness that stems from carelessness.

What division did Jesus intend to bring between people?

He has come to divide potentially even blood families to recreate a New Spiritual family - all linked to God the Father. In Christ, with Christ through Christ. Through the Baptism of the Holy Spirit flowing from one to another. Holy Spirit a binding element far stronger than the eartly links that MAY drive us away from the Father. Father pulling each of us towards Him through Christ and each other trying to lovingly pull our loved ones in. Enthicing them in the Family House. Fightin with the other hand the devil`s trying to pull them his way.

What might Jesus recommend to two people having a legal dispute?

To try to sort it out themselves amicably on the way so that there is no need to go to the lawyer who is often solely interested in geetting more weeds to grow. A mutually understanding and forthcoming attitude - find the middle ground. Understanding the other and carefully examining one`s reasons in the Light of God`s commandments.
