Why didn`t he just say that his authority came from God? Jesus knew they new and feared God, but they did not accept Jesus as the Son of God. Why did Jesus answer their question with a question? Why didn`t he just say that his authority came from God? Jesus was a teacher, and one who despised people who came to Him asking, but againg mocking. He knew that they were looking for enough reasons to judge Him, yet His time had not yet come so refusing the answer them was refusing to give them an opportunity to disrupt His mission.
