JESUS the LAMB of GOD
In the old testament the people always sacrificed a lamb or goat to offer up to GOD.   But then GOD  the FATHER sent HIS only begotten SON that HE would be the LAMB of life to be sacarificed for all our sins. HE is to give us and eternal and everlasting home in HIS FATHER'S KINGDOM.

Fourth song of the servant of Yahweh, Isaiah 53:7

He never opened his mouth,

like a lamb that is led to the slaughter-house,

like a sheep that is dumb before its shearers

never opening its mouth.

Why did John introduce Jesus as the Lamb of God?
John described Jesus as a lamb of God is that Jesus is going to be sacrifice and die for our sins. Back in Moses days, in Leviticus, for sins repentences and offerings they have to burn the first born, unblemished lamb and Jesus as spotless of sin is on my, yours and all of us, died as a Lamb of God in return for us to be save from sins.

Jesus the Lamb of God

The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.' I didn't know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water: that he would be revealed to Israel." John testified, saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him. I didn't recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water, he said to me, 'On whomever you will see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.' I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."

John 1:28-34
