Why do you suppose they were filled with fear then comforted by Jesus eating food?
I suppose they were filled with fear because they thought they saw Jesus' ghost for they knew He was dead on the cross. Ghost does not eat food but Jesus did ask for food and ate so they knew He was alive. By: Allen Yong - December 27, 2007 - Public Category: Jesus Appears to the Disciples

I would have strengthened myself more in believing in Jesus had I seen Him myself after His death and burial, because seeing is believing. URL: http://www.JesusCentral.com By: Christine Nakyeyune Muwanga - December 27, 2007 - Public Category: Jesus Appears to the Disciples

Jesus said "I send forth the promise of my Father on you", what was the promise?
The promise of the Father was the Holy Ghost because even before His death, Jesus used to prophesise on His death, and also the Spirit of God that would dwell on His followers to give power to work miraculous signs. How might you have felt seeing Jesus after knowing he had died?
I would have felt like it was a dream. I've had dreams in which my uncle who passed away two years ago "comes back". In these dreams I feel a sense of relief and I'm filled with joy because I can see him and talk to him. Maybe that's how I'd feel if I saw jesus after knowing he had died. How might you have felt seeing Jesus after knowing he had died?
It seems that I can feel terrified and afraid but after realising the sufferings of Jesus and that indeed Jesus has overcomed death, I can remove the spirit of fear and start rejoicing in the lord always " Philipians 4 Vs 4". This time around , I cannot feel troubled but have the peace of the lord Jesus Christ. I can give groly and exalt the might name of the lord at all cost because Jesus's death has removed me from the bondage of sins. I can feel lonely but happy with the promise of the Holy Spirit. Amen! As they said these
things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, "Peace be to you." But they were
terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
He said to them,
"Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your
hearts? See my hands and
my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn't have
flesh and bones, as you see that I have." When he had said this, he showed
them his hands and his feet. While they still didn't believe
for joy, and wondered, he said to them, "Do you have
anything here to eat?" They gave him a piece
of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. He took them, and ate in front
of them. He said to
them, "This is what I told you, while I was still
with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the
prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled." Then he opened their
minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the
Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and
remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations,
beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these
things. Behold, I send
forth the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem
until you are clothed with power from on high."
