Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
He is the lamb of sacrifice, How do you sacrifice a lamb? Jesus paid for us a great price in order to save us. He was crushed for our sins in every dimension of his life. When He commands to love God He says that we must love God with all our mind, heart, soul. So He loved us to the end with all his life, with all his body as the lamb of sacrifice

Because He took on human flesh as the Son of God. Sin is not just spiritual. It effects us emotionally and physically too.

Jesus `penalty for sin` included physical and emotional pain and not just spiritual seperation from God because he had to suffer for all of the evils mankind had committed, he bore the pain and agony, so that we would be forgiven our souls be redeemed. That we would not be seperated from God spirtually.

The reason is that our forefathers were using animals as sacrifices in order to ask God to forgive their sins, so God has seen all our weakness and gave His only begotten son to come and suffered both physical and emotional on our behalf. Call Him all the time He is us.

Jesus` sacrifices involved everything. He took over our sins, , and our sins are grave that He must sacrifice everything not only spiritual separation from God but also physical and emotional pain.

Maybe its because when man was separated from God, that separation caused both physical and emotional pain to man. Remember when Adam and Eve committed a sin against God, He said that man will work on the ground and He will make child-bearing a painful process. And since we are designed to be dependent on God, that separation left a open hole in our hearts that could only be filled by God.

Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)
No it was meant to be and he walked according to the Words. The words were and are truth, he proved it.Whatever He did was right, and the truth prevailed he doesn`t have to entice it.And if he enticed it, it was for a good cause.Because if he haden`t, these people wouldn`t know of their evil doings, wouldn`t have to reject truth.By rejecting truth, they proved him innocent, which fulfilled His purpose.

I believe that He accomplished all the purposes. He was sent to save us from death, to demonestrate His love for us.By restating His wordswhat other way is there for a man toshow love than sacrificing His soul for His friends? He definitely brought good news to the poor in everything, poor in money, health, acceptance, spirit. He broke bondages of poverty, sickness, hopelessnes, sin and death. He sacrificed his life while living and by death, he gave us life abundant in this world and life which we haven`t seen, in the coming world, he gave us hope, which is fuel to exist. And he showed us our inheritance, eyes haven`t seen, ears haven`t heard, so we could live accordingly and prepare for the everlasting, have a better and longer vision, live a meaningful and purposeful.
