God distanced from man because of his sins and when Jesus bore mans sin, God distanced from Jesus as he assumed mankinds sin. As a consequence Jesus had to suffer physically and spiritually for God disrupted His link with Jesus as God would do from any man with sin. Subsequently by Jesus death he took away mans past sins. This re-opens Gods portal to man. And God by His Grace accepts man in His presence when Jesus relives and arose as Gods son, free of all sins, to sit on the right side of God.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
It is hrd to understand why he had to undergo this for us. However, one of the reasons may have been for us in our weakness to be able to over come difficulties and death. Christ went through this on our behalf to be able over come the pain and condemnation brought uopn us by  the satan and sin. He went through this as an ultimate sacrifice for us. And in him we can over come if we trust and obey.

Man has sinned through his carnal nature.  Jesus lived though life with a body of Man so that he would experience all of life's experiences although he was sinless.  He had to endure the life of Man in order to suffer for our sins and make us clean that whoseever believes in Him will enter into the Kingdom of God.

Jesus was the only man who existed without commiting sin. As the Son of man he lives in a  fleshy body like ours. It is flesh that makes man sin. Due to this it was important that Jesus who took all the sins of humanity onto himself to suffer both physically and spiritually. It is for us that He had to endure all that.

Because physical we are the image of God, Emotional we sin againist God for gething that we are his children, Jesus penality for sin was both to plead with God his father to forgive his children who lost relationship with God due to their sinfulness.

Because God came in flesh so to experience human's sufferings on earth and to spread the new goods to have a relationship with God.  The physical and emotional pain that Lord Jesus Christ suffered on the cross is proof that He is God in flesh as witness by all who were present at the crucification.  Spiritual separation from God is not effective to prove to mankind that all our sins are laid on Lord Jesus' death.  Lord Jesus is our God and Savior!

Because Jesus, even though He is the Son of God, He came down to save us as human, born and lived as ordinary human being like us, with the same characteristics of a human being, and He sufferred and went through His mission from God as an ordinary human being, too, thus He felt all the emotions and physical pains that went with it.  Thanks a lot Lord Jesus for going through all that pains and sufferings for our salvation! Please give us the grace and strength to be worthy of it.

Because Jesus had to die for our sins thats why he had to be go through physical and emotional pain. Not spiritual separation from God because spiritually this cannot be showed it is felt.

Because Jesus is the lamb of God.  He is the sacrifice, the offer for our sins, from this we are now safe and can enjoy to live our life with Jesus.
