No, Jesus was not trying to incite His death! The events of that week indicate the orderly way in which Christ's death had been planned, the same way our salvation is orderly. Christ knew and predicted His death many times, but just as we don't heed the Good news of the gospel talking about His return, so were his disciples of old. At the last supper, in the Garden of Gethsemane, during the night long many trials there is no indication that this came to Jesus as a surprise. Since Jesus was both God and man, the man in Him asked His father to spare him the death on the cross,if He willed, but His Father instead sent angels to give Him strength. The things he did during the week had to be done because even if He had not done them, it would not have changed His death. Why? Because if He had not died on that cross voluntarily, if the devil had suceeded in killing him during all those many failed attempts, mankind could have been lost forever. So prophecy was fulfilled to the letter during that final week of Jesus work on earth.URL: http://www.jesuscentral.com/167382

Jesus was not trying and did not incite His death. The things He stood against were those that were not of the Spirit but of the flesh; things that were contrary or hostile to the ways and teachings of God. His coming to earth was already defined and destined, and Jesus was not only aware of it but was very prepared for it. Finally, eaverything that took place was in fulfilment of the scriptures and prophesies. Without that fulfilment, death would not have been conquerred, the authority of man over the devil that Adam let go easily, would not have been retrived and handed back to mankind; we would not have been saved and redeemed from bondage of the law/sin. The New Born experience would have remained a far dream. By: Che Theophilus Che Category: Timeline - Final 1 Week |
