Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?
I believe the reason Jesus had to experience both physical and emitional pain is because we too experience both physical and emotional pain.,.. Jesus Chris had to suffer what we suffer for all our sins to be forgiven, not only our physical sins but our emotional ones as well.

He had to completely and fully pay for our sin and curse both from a physical and spiritual aspect. He lifted God's wrath, which is to come, from those who put their trust in Jesus Christ.

We, as humans, experience both physical and emotional pain daily, that is why He had to endure both. Scripture says that through His wounds we are healed. URL: http://www.jesuscentral.com

Jesus' penalty for sin needs to include physical and emotional pain at that time because he was taking on the body of man, which is subject to such pain. By having such an experience,He's providing salvation not only to our spirit but also to our soul and body. URL: www.jesuscentral.com
