Why does Jesus call Love One Another a New commandment?
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?
The Jews held much distrust and often hatred for the Roman Empire " they were unwilling subjects. At the time of Jesus' birth, the local Roman ruler, King Herod had initiated a massacre of all Jewish baby boys born at the time. Herod was also responsible for placing forbidden idols within the Jewish temple. Such actions added more reasons for Jewish resentment of the foreign Roman government.

Compassion
When I think about this word, I tend to think of feelings that I have for my son and my husband when they are sick, depressed or hurt. When a friends husbands dies I feel like I need to do something for her, whether it is to sit and read to her or to just let her know I am there, just a phone call away. When I see a homeless person and wonder if me giving them money or food would help them.''then knowing in the back of my head that they will most likely buy booze with it '' Not trusting in the real judge" I know that I try to do the RIGHT thing. Do I have the same copassion as Jesus does for us I think not, but I do know that I am willing to learn and keep trying to do the next right thing that is right for the world, or as I might say my little grain of the world. I am only one person and can only do so much. Is that enough" Is what I do enough to change even one person to hopefully do the next right thing. I know this probally does not make sense and tahts okay, I have lots of things running around lots of questions lots of stuff. To unanswered question are a great reason to keep learning.
