He had also to fulfil what had been prophesised by the prephets.It was to show those who will believe that we were not meant for this world, and the unbelieves that He was the son of the most High who has power and authority over death. It was so meaningful because Jesus saw it as a preparation for his Burial. Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

Why did Jesus choose such a humble entrance (riding on a donkey) when He came into Jerusalem? Jesus himself is humility. This is one of the reason apart from the fact that the prophecy is fulfilled, 'Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey's colt.'
