Why do you think Pilate gave Jesus the title "King of the Jews"? to mock the Jews. The reason why the Jews wanted Jesus crucified was they thought it was blasphemy for Jesus to declare that "I AM". Pilate was sort of backed in a corner in crucifying Jesus, so he mocked the Jews.
