3961 entries for this category: The number twelve is represented many times throughout the Old and New testament. In allowing twelve extra baskets of bread, I beleive that Jesus may be stating that the Spiritual food (Jesus Body) will be given to the twelve tribes of Israel. Why didn`t Jesus spend more time healing people? Healing was only part of Jesus' mission. He also had to travel and preach the Gospel.

What is Jesus trying to teach his disciples? Jesus is trying to teach His disciples that they need nothing in their travels spreading the word of God ("take nothing with you"), that all will be provided by God via the Holy Spirit.
