What is Jesus trying to teach with this parable? Hint: The vineyard (where grapes are grown) is Israel; The farmer is God; the servants are the prophets who were sent by God; the son is Jesus; and the tenants are religious leaders of the Jews.

Jesus is teaching about the character of God.  God created Isreal and set standards for His people to live righteously.  The religious leaders to take care of Isreal and communicate God's desires to the people - by encouraging people to live correctly and setting an example.  But whenever He sent prophets to Isreal to communicate His desires for Isreal (like to stop sinning and to care for the poor and vulnerable members of society).  These prophets were killed, mistreated and rejected.  Eventually, God sent His Son.  Our God is a persevering God.

Jesus is also teaching about the character of the religious leaders.  The tenants in the parable weren't concerned about respecting the landowner or about giving him the fruits of his land.  The religious leaders of the Jews were corrupt and not respecting God or giving God the fruits of Isreal.  They were more concerned with using the system to get money for themselves than about using money to further God's work.

Jesus is also foretelling His death.  The tenants in the parable kill the landowner's son.  Jesus will also be murdered.

Why does Jesus place commandments to actively love above commandments to refrain from evil (thou shall notâ€Â¦)? Note: Jesus answered with two quotations from the Jewish law about loving God (Deuteronomy 6:4), and about loving neighbors (Leviticus 19:18).
For if we have love evil is not in us but God. Love swallows all evil.

Why did Jesus answer their question with a question? Why didn`t he just say that his authority came from God?

The chief prists, scribes and elders were testing Jesus.  If He would have said that His authority came from God - they would have just called Him a liar as they believed that they held authority from God because of their religious and high-standing roles.

Jesus answered their question with a question that He knew would trap them.  If they said said that John's baptism was from heaven - they would have been forced to see Jesus' authority as also being from heaven.  If they would have said that John's baptism was from men - the people would have risen against them because of the strong belief in John as a prophet.

Jesus had them backed into a corner with His question, which is why they eventually just said "we don't know."
