Why did Jesus challenge the disciples to "give them (5000 people) something to eat" before multiplying the food?

Jesus challenged the disciples to give the 5,000 people food because:

1.  What is impossible for man is not impossible for God.  Through faith, food can be multipled and the hungry can be fed.

2.  Without feeding them, they would have either been sent away to buy food or would have been hungry enough to leave and buy food.  Salvation is worth more than food and, like the passage says, Jesus felt compassion for them.

3.  To show that God will provide and faith in Him is rewarded (the disciples took up baskets full of leftovers).

Jesus listed specific things (which come from the heart) that makes one unclean. Do you recognize any of these in your own heart?
Yes all that are mentioned are in my heart. I always beg the Lord to help me to get rid of all these thoughts but they still surround me and make me miserable.

King Herod held power to kill as desired, yet he himself feared many things. What did he fear? Do have have any of his fears?

King Herod feared:  the righteous and holy; being seen as not keeping his word/oath; looking bad in front of his dinner guests (by not keeping his word).

I think we all fear looking bad in front of others or being accused of not keeping a promise.
