What motivated Jesus to heal others? Jewish beliefs insisted that Jews had an obligation to keep healthy. Jews even used to depict the Holy Spirit "leaving" people when they were sick. - Source: Karen Armstrong, A History of God: The 4,000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam (New York: Ballantine Books, 1993). I think that Jesus healed people because sickness was something that Jews felt could seperate them from God.
