Why did those who passed by mock Jesus? Those who passed represented the Pharisees and Saducees who were against Jesus.

Why did the soldiers mock Jesus? Because they were insensitive and cruel. They could have also felt that it was ironic that Jesus was the King of Jews yet He appeared so humble and poor.
