What did Judas gain by betraying Jesus?

Absolutely nothing. Sometimes in our narrowmindedness we think pursuing a course of action would lead to gain, however in hindsight, just as the situation with Judas, pursuing that course may lead to a loss.

What made Peter so afraid to be identified with Jesus? Why are many people today still afraid to identify with Jesus?

Peter was afraid to be identified with Jesus becaus he feared physical harm. So many people are afraid to identify with Jesus today because of physical persecution (in some areas of the world) and also because they fear isolation.

Why did the high priest view it as blasphemy when Jesus acknowledged that he was the Christ, the Son of God?

Because according to the Jews, there can only be one God as they haven't grasped the trinity
