By forgiving others, we are acting like God, behaving as children of God, showing God's character of forgiveness, mercy, and grace to others. We are also loving them and being obedient to God's words. We also show faith in God's words when we forgive what we would rather not forgiven. We cannot forgive on our own and must ask God for help again and again and when we overcome the feelings of bitterness, resentment, and anger at the sin, we will know that God has helped us overcome it and know of His presences. Our faith and relationship with God will also grow because of this experience. In addition, our relationship with God will be right because unforgiveness in our lives creates a distance between God and us. Though He is with us, it is hard for us to sense His peace, joy, and love when we are bitter, angry, and resentful of someone/something. By: Kim Tran Category: The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant |
