Jesus showed the disciples His hands and His side to prove to them that He died on the cross and rose up again just like He told them He would.He said peace be to you because He had the authority to give them peace because He was King of Kings and Lord of Lords.All authority was given to Him.

Why did Jesus use the greeting. "Peace be to you"? Was there special signiificance in this greeting? Jesus said peace be with you, so that no one would get scared. He is the Prince of Peace and peace is what we always strive for in this in these last days.

Why did Jesus use the greeting. "Peace be to you"? Was there special signiificance in this greeting? I think He used it because He knew the disciples where afraid, and through this saying He encouraged them to go out in the world, and seek peace.
