Jesus not only believes this, but repeatedly mentions the point in the Gospel.   In fact, there is an implication that those who are well off or rich are less worthy than the poor, or at least must have to work harder to be considered righteous - as in the ease of a camel passing through the eye of a needle compared to the difficulty of the same feat attempted by a rich man.

There are not many other ethical systems that elevate the value of the poor.  Such is the unique status of the Christian faith.
