Note: Jesus left twelve baskets full when he fed the 5000 people on the Israel side (Israel had 12 main regions or tribes). Jesus was preparing the disciples for the time He would not be with them. He was trying to teach them that with Faith anything is possible. The baskets represented the tribes of Israel, the bread represents the word of God, which after Jesus is gone would be the disciples role in teaching it to the masses.

Jesus was trying to teach the disciples that God the Father is looking after the twelve tribes of Isreal and the the Gentiles who believe in Him, not to worry about anything, just ask and you will be given.

Healing and multiplying food did not convice the religious leaders. What sign would have convinced you of Jesus as God? I would like Jesus to talk to me when I pray. If I could hear Him in my quiet time with Him I am very happy.
