Jesus and prophecy Perhaps Jesus' life and death is better viewed as the fulfillment of the promises God made to Israel (and all nations as promised to Abraham). It was necessary for Him to die to reconcile God to mankind (2 Cor 5:18). In Jesus God has accepted all humankind and now it is up to every person to be reconciled to God. Did God plan this way of reconciliation? Yes, Jesus was crucified by the foreordained planning of God (Acts 2:23). The wonder of it all is that God would do this to gain the rescue of His creation. --DrD
