Dinner With Jesus

A discussion with Jesus over dinner would center on heaven.  I suppose we could discuss why I was born with a birth defect and why that particular one.  And I know we could talk about my childlessness, not having a mate, and the death of my fiancée.  I imagine that we could talk about my wanderings and solitude.  However, as much as I would like understanding on these things, I would prefer to talk about heaven.  I’d rather know about my future home and the wonderful things to look forward to than to discuss things of this world.  Yes, if I were having dinner with Jesus we would discuss heaven.

Obedience and Intimacy

The way to intimacy with Jesus is through obedience.  “If you love me keep my commandments” Jesus said, John 14:15.  When we are obedient to God, we show our love for Him.  Our trust in God deepens as does our love.  In return Jesus will shower upon us more of His love.  This results in an on going, one-on-one relationship with God.

New Commandment

Exodus 21-24 tells us “eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth…”.   But the Messiah came to fulfill the law.  Therefore, we can now leave revenge to Him.  What Jesus would rather we do is obey a new commandment, “love one another-including our enemies.  When we love one another, we illustrate the love that Jesus has for us and our love for Him. And this separates us, His sheep, from the world.

What is the Good News, and how does this relate to guilt and condemnation of divorce?

The Good News, relates to the Bible and the Kingdom of Heaven being at hand.

As far it relates to divorce, there are warnings against this practice. But remember, JESUS paid a price that we could not pay, including divorce and adultery. Seek forgiveness in JESUS and through him and him alone the stain of your sin will be forgiven.
