What does Jesus mean that "Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted"? For all those people that think they are God and above everyone else will be brought down to reality in due time. All the people that live by the rules of the Lord and follow his path, they will be rewarded and held in esteem in the eyes of the Lord. This is their reward, not praise from man.

How does Jesus want to care for the people of Jerusalem (Israel), and how do they respond? Jesus want to protect and save the people of Jerusalem and give them eternal life but as the people did coming out of Egypt, they continued to turn away from the wishes of the Lord. Even seeing the miracles that God performed before their very eyes, they would drift away.
