Compassion is the ability to emphasize with the suffering of some one else, and if possible, remedy, if not lessen the suffering.  Compassion is not passive; it demands action.  The Lord Jesus exercised compassion as illustrated in the essay, for example, Jesus felt compassion for the hungry multitude and fed them.  Also, the two blind men cried out to Jesus and continued to cry out even when the crowd told them to be quiet.  Yet, Jesus was “moved with compassion” and took away their blindness.

The ultimately act through compassion is the compassion Jesus has for sinners and sacrificing Himself for sin by dying on the cross.
