Upon reading the commentary of each category, a particular piece of information in the Religious Setting drew my attention: "they were celebrating the Passover. This is also the tradition that caused so many Jews to be present in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion."  Subliminally, I knew this, however, I never acknowledged the significance of the Passover and the events leading up to and including Jesus' death as it relates to the population of Jews present in Jerusalem to witness and participate in "Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion." The Passover celebration was cause for the gathering of Jews in Jerusalem, as was done every year. This allowed for Jesus to preach to the crowd, which was high spirited not only for the Passover but also for whom they acknowledged as king, Jesus. (Mark 11:8-10. Yet, this same crowd of Jews, along with Romans, mocked Jesus and called for His death. Although there were exceptions, Jesus' very own people refused to believe Him to be the Messiah, and they gathered together to celebrate the Passover and eventually convict Jesus to His death.
