Why did Jesus forgive the man`s sins first, and heal afterward? I suspect (and believe me I'm no authority on the subject) but given the circumstances, JESUS used the opportunity to shed light on the truth. That he was the son of GOD and through him he has the power for forgive and heal. I believe JESUS was demonstrating to those that we should forgive our brothers & sisters for their sins.
