Too many times we are guilty of asking for and saying if you do this, I will do for you. One cannot expect God to respond to this, one must have faith that God is with you always and will do for you as you have promised to do for Him.

How is Jesus` teaching like fresh wine requiring fresh wineskins? For a person to take on the teachings of Jesus, they first would have to clense themselves of all sins and beliefs of false gods. Your old self cannot exist with the way of the Lord. Once you give yourself to God, then you can handle all that comes to you. He will be with us and we will fear no evil.

Why did Jesus choose Matthew, a known taxgatherer and a despised man, to be His disciple? Jesus was sent here to save the sinners and teach the word of God to those who had not heard the word or those who doubted what they had heard. Jesus knew that Matthew would also be a teacher of God's word when he saw the light and followed. A changed man converted to God's way.
